Julie Haendiges is a biologist with the Molecular Methods and Subtyping Branch in the Division of Microbiology at the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). She received her doctorate from the University of Maryland. At the FDA, she acts in the GenomeTrakr Admin team as the SME for sequencing wet lab techniques. Her research focuses on functional genomics and preventive controls of Salmonella enterica, and the use of both long- and short-read sequencing technologies.
