If you are having problems with connecting your MinION Mk1D please work through the following steps:
Ensure you are using the correct version of MinKNOW for full support of the MinION Mk1D. See here for details.
Check there’s not a popup behind a window on your computer asking you to connect to the device.
If your MinION Mk1D is plugged into a computer with an earlier version of MinKNOW than 24.06.16 it will update the firmware on the device to match the version present in MinKNOW, the firmware update process will take approximately 2.5 minutes to complete before the position becomes available in MinKNOW. During this time do not unplug the device. Once the computer has the correct version of MinKNOW installed, the firmware on the Mk1D will be updated again before the position shows as available.
Ensure USB port functionality is not being restricted by third party software on your host machine. This could be an Antivirus or Endpoint detection and Response package. If your IT security policies require such third party software please contact your IT department to ensure the below codes are ‘white listed’ within the ‘Peripheral controls’ of the third party software. The exact white listing steps vary with each third party software.
Try a different USB-C port on your computer.
Press Ctrl+R/CMD+R to refresh the MinKNOW interface.
Disconnect the MinION Mk1D, power off your computer, turn it back on, open MinKNOW and try connecting the MinION Mk1D again.
